City of the Tribes Kayak Race 2016

18th Annual City of the Tribes race coming up in less than a fortnight folks.
All welcome to this friendly flat water race on the lovely Corrib river
Sunday 28th August
Start time 13:00hrs
Venue: (to be confirmed) but most likely the usual spot launching from Fisheries Field Steps in central Galway, parking in grounds of NUIG and access to launch spot via pedestrian footbridge.
Entries from 11:00hrs in Fisheries Field
Fees: €10 senior
€5 junior (U-18)
Race Courses:
14.5km long course (Div 1-2, Open K2)
12.0km Intermediate (Div 3) course
10.5km standard course (Div 4, GPs, Standard course K2/T2)
6km (Div 5)
2km Novice/Fun race
Rescue boat/s will be on duty on the course.

Galway Bay Sea Kayak Race 2016

When: Sunday 29th May 2016
Where: Galway Ocean Sports Club, Harbour Enterprise Park, Galway 
Registration from 11:00 hrs
Race Start Time: Novice race will start @ 12:00 followed by the Standard Course & Long Course 12:30

Race Courses (Laps):
Novice course (approx. 2-3km) classes for singles & doubles
Standard course (8- 10km), expedition sea kayak/touring classes (Separate Male & Female single classes, & Open Double class) suitable for paddlers with reasonable experience of Lv. 2-3 standard 
Long Course (14km) Unlimited Racing Class for single Surf ski, Ocean Ski, & Racing sea kayaks (Separate Male & Female single classes, & Open Double class)

Race Entry Fee: €15 per adult, €5 per child

Kayak rental : Single & Double kayaks available for hire, Rate €25 for single, €35 for double

For 2016 all Elio Racing Kayaks are made in One-Piece Construction with vacuum.

See inset,  that means no internal seam resulting in a stronger, stiffer, & more robust kayak.

The Basic construction (Fibreglass/Sphertex/Polyester)  has been discontinued for racing kayaks, the current range of constructions offered are as follows:

Club: Carbon or Carbon kevlar on cockpit, Epoxy corecork vacuum 

Special Club: Carbon kevlar on cockpit, Epoxy sphertex PVC vacuum 

River: Kevlar and/or Carbon Kevlar, epoxy vacuum.

Sport: Carbon/Glassfibre/PVC/Epoxy vacuum 

SSC: Special carbon, Epoxy vacuum

Marathon: PVC/Carbon/Carbon Kevlar or Kevlar/ epoxy vacuum.

Prices start in Club construction from:

€1740 for K1's,

€2150 for K2's
